Is it safe? What not to type into AI

AI chats are safe to use for everyday writing if you follow a few simple rules about what you type in.

Steps

  1. Never paste passwords, card numbers, bank details, or Social Security numbers.
  2. Leave out private customer details you don't need, like full addresses or health info. Use a first name or [Customer] instead.
  3. Check your settings: in ChatGPT, open Settings and look at Data Controls to choose whether your chats help train the AI.
  4. Always read what the AI writes before you send it. It can make mistakes.

Copy-and-paste prompt

A prompt is just the message you type to the AI. Fill in the [brackets].

Here is a message I want to write to a customer. I've replaced private details with [brackets]. Make it clear, friendly, and short: [paste your message]

Tip: When in doubt, swap real details for [brackets] and fill them in yourself after.
